Consorci del Bages per a la Gestió de Residus (Coordinator)

El Consorci del Bages per a la Gestió de Residus (CBGR) is a public institution in charge of the waste management of the Bages county (Spain) and has, as main drivers and objectives, the environment value and the sustainability. It was founded in 1985 with the exclusive objective of managing Manresa landfill. Later on, the Environmental Park of Bufalvent, managed by CBGR, was build, including the existing landfill but also a composting plant, a leachate treatment plant and a photovoltaic solar energy plant, . CBGR also takes care of the selective collection of glass, paper, packaging and organic matter waste in most of the municipalities and also manages the civic amenity site of the county.One of CBGR main objectives is to raise awareness among citizens and general public about the need of being involved in the whole waste management process by reducing the amount of waste generated and separating and classificating waste with the main objective of decreasing the environmental impact derived from waste generation and management. In this sense, several awareness campaigns including printed material and videos (available from their website) are done each year by the CBGR to raise awareness to Bages county citizens. Furthermore, its facilities in Manresa include activities for schools and families such as educative games and a classroom which receives more than 2000 visitors a year.

Protecmed

PROTECMED (Procesos Técnicos Medioambientales LTD) is specialized in complex water afluent treatments, such as landfill leachate, Ecoparks, compost plants and waste treatment plants. They also deal with farm manure and all complicated waste water difficult to treat. Protecmed studies each case individually to find the best solution to each problem. Their experience allows us to design and offer the following different innovative technologies. They offer advice and services in treatment processes, engineering, technical assistance, start up and pilot plant field trials. In every case, they work with companies in the sector to design the best available technology. They always ensure a high quality post-sales and mantainance service. They main costumers are landfils and Ecoparcs in Spain which need to implement technology and treatment processes for leachates, so their experience will be very valuable when constructing and implementing the project technology.

Agència de Residus de Catalunya

The Catalan Waste Agency (ARC) is a public company of the Department of Territory and Sustainability of the Government of Catalonia that is competent concerning waste generated in Catalonia and the waste managed in its territorial area, industrial, municipal, health care, or agricultural waste. The mission of the ARC is to work to improve the quality of life of the people of Catalonia and to protect the environment and its natural heritage, all through sustainable waste management. The main objectives of the Agència de Residus de Catalunya are: the minimisation of the quantity of waste generated and its hazardousness, the promotion of selective collection, waste recovery, final waste disposal and the recovery of areas and land that have been deteriorated or polluted by uncontrolled dumping. ARC is a key player in raising awareness in Catalonia about sustainable waste management and waste minimisation and so it does through publications, brochures, commercials in regional TV, press releases and a long list of other dissemination actions.
